Evidence note

• Laukkanen T, et al. JAMA Internal Medicine, 2015: About 2,300 middle-aged Finnish men were followed for roughly 20 years. Men who used a traditional sauna 4 to 7 times a week had lower rates of fatal cardiovascular events and death from any cause than men who went once a week. Observational study of Finnish men in traditional saunas. It shows an association, not proof that sauna caused the difference. (summary)
• Kunutsor SK, et al. European Journal of Epidemiology, 2017: Frequent sauna use was associated with fewer acute and chronic respiratory diseases in Finnish men. Observational. (summary)
